Master Teacher Certification 2014
 
Program Description
The Georgia Master Teacher Certification Program is designed to achieve former Governor Perdue’s goal of providing statewide recognition for full-time certified public school teachers with at least three years of teaching on a clear renewable certificate in Georgia who consistently demonstrate excellence in the classroom through gains in student achievement.

Minimum Criteria:
  • Evidence of student achievement and student progress
  • Full-time Georgia Public School Teacher
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching on a Clear Renewable Certificate in Georgia
Renewal for Master Teachers:
The validity period for Master Teacher certification is seven years. Master Teachers who received certification in 2007, who wish to renew, should apply in the fall of 2013 following the regular Master Teacher application procedures.

Special note for lab situations:
Lab situations which are scripted programs or Computer Assisted Instruction will not be eligible for this phase (2014).
NOTICE: All applicants will be processed through the Ethics Division of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission to check for a sanction or a pending action before reviewing the application. The following guidelines apply:
  1. If an applicant has been convicted of a felony, he/she would not be eligible to apply for the Master Teacher certification
  2. If an applicant has received any sanction from the PSC, the EERC will review the case on an individual basis to make a recommendation to the Commission
  3. Any pending litigation or sanction from the PSC must be resolved before submitting application for Master Teacher certification.
Application Timeframe:
The application process for 2014 Master Teacher Certification is:
  • Open for All Applications: September, 2013.
  • Deadline for CRCT: December 15, 2013
  • Deadline for non-CRCT and Instructional Coach applications:
    January 31, 2014.
Application Process:
The application process provides the opportunity for the applicants to follow the guidelines specific to their teaching/coaching situations. For details on the application process, the applicant accesses the school level (Elementary, Middle, or Secondary) that corresponds with the teaching assignment.
